Summer camps run for six weeks. The atmosphere is a family setting, where they pair up a tent of boys and girls with volunteer counselors as their Leader. These groups typically do the majority of activities together including eating and swimming. The camp's deans recruit Camp Volunteer Counselors, who help plan the camp activities and work with the campers.

Campers receive balanced meals. The camp is well known for the quality of its food. Most Deans also give campers the option of cooking over the campfire in their family group or taking a sack lunch while they walk the beach to the Pentwater Channel.
